2 Bangladeshi youths killed in BSF gunfire

Two Bangladeshi young men were killed when BSF of India opened fire on them near the zero point frontier of Marangpara bridge under Sreebordi upazila of Sherpur district on Sunday night.

The victims were identified as Ukil Mia son of Banga Suruj Mia of Meghadal village under Singabaruna union and Khokon Mia son of Azizul member of Matifata area of same union of Sreebordi upazila.

Police and local people informed, cattle smugglers Ukil Mia and Khokon Mia entered into Indian territory through the zero point of 1092 frontier pillar and reached near Marangpara bridge when BSF opened fire on them injuring them fatally. Later on, other smugglers left their bullet strewn bodies at the Rubber garden of Panbari area and fled the scene. Ukil Mia died there while police recovered the dead body of Khokon Mia from inside the bush of the rubber garden in the afternoon.

A flag meeting between BGB and BSF was held where Shahidur Rahman, Commander of 39 BGB, Mymensing and Bishal Rane, Commander of 26 BSF unit headed the respective teams. BGB protested the incident of gun-fire and killing of two Bangladeshi citizens by BSF. 

Ruhul Amin, Officer-in-charge of Sreebordi Police Station informed dead bodies of Ukil Mia and Khokon Mia have been sent to the morgue of district sadar hospital.
