Police detained two Awami League leaders and one Jubo Leage leaders on charge of sabotage from Naikhongchhari upazila of Bandarban on Monday.
The detainees were identified as vice president of upazila Awami League Sirajul Haque, 60, son of Abdul Jabbar, resident of Dhakdala Bazar Para, general secretary of union Awami League Md Fayez Ullah, 50, son of Jafar Hossain, resident of Dhakdhala Ghonapara area, general secretary of upazila Jubo League Ali Hossain, 43, son of Md Kashem Ali, resident of Kombonia para.
Moreover, cases were filed against 68 others, including the president and general secretary of upazila Awami League on charge of sabotage.
Officer-in-Charge of Naikhongchhari police station Md Masrurul Haque, confirmed the matter on Monday morning.
According to the case file, a group of miscreants on early Sunday engaged in activities aimed at destroying national property, creating roadblocks, disturbing law and order, destabilizing the country, damaging important infrastructure, undermining Bangladesh's sovereignty, and carrying out acts of sabotage. The miscreants set off cocktails and firecrackers, set tires on fire, and gathered armed with local weapons.
Based on this information, the Naikhongchhari Police conducted an operation. During the operation, three individuals were arrested for their involvement in sabotage and a case was filed against 68 others.
