2,600 farmers get agriculture incentives in Narail

The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) was distributed high yielding Aman seeds and fertilizers free of cost as agricultural incentives for Aman farming among 2,600 small and marginal farmers in Sadar upazila of the district on Sunday.

The agricultural stimulus were distributed free of cost under the agricultural incentive and rehabilitation programme in the current season with a view to increasing Aman paddy production.  

The beneficiary farmers were given 5 kgs of high yielding seed, 10 kgs of muriate of potash (MOP) and 10 kgs of di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizers for Aman paddy cultivation on one bigha of land free of cost each under the government’s agricultural incentive programme.

Deputy Commissioner of Narail Muhammad Habibur Rahman handed over the agriculture inputs among the small and marginal farmers as the chief guest at the Sadar Upazila Parishad premises with Deputy Director of DAE Dipok Kumar Roy in the chair. Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sadia Islam, Sadar Upazila Vice-Chairman and general secretary of Bangladesh Mahila Awami League district unit Ismot Ara were present as special guests. Narail Sadar Upazila agriculture officer Md. Rokunuzzaman delivered welcome speech on the occasion.

Deputy Director of DAE Deepak Kumar Roy said, the present government is farmer-friendly one as it has taken various steps for development of agriculture including Aman paddy. Agricultural incentives will help boost Aman Paddy production, he added.
