‘2,000 volunteers to safeguard important establishments in Ctg’

Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram Abul Bashar Mohammed Fakhruzzaman on Monday said the volunteers will be engaged to safeguard the important and development establishments in Chattogram, including all government offices, court building, Union Parishad building, Upazila Parishad Complex, mosques, temples, churches and pagodas.

He said this in a view-exchange meeting with the volunteers at Chittagong Circuit House on Monday. He spoke to the representatives of the volunteers’ organisations.

Volunteers of BNCC, Scouts, Girls Guide, Red Crescent and other voluntary organisations will take part in the security of various establishments in Chattogram. The work of forming the committee has started. The volunteers are likely to start their work from Tuesday. 

DC Abul Bashar Mohammed Fakhruzzaman said we along with the students of the anti-discrimination student movement and various volunteers will ensure the security of our offices, courts, government offices and important buildings. These are the wealth of our country. So, it is our responsibility to protect these. 

He also said five committees have been formed today on five issues. These are graffiti and calligraphy, traffic, security, cleanliness and hospitals. 

The graffiti work done by the students on the walls of the city is beautifying our city. They are keeping the memories of this revolution and highlighting the uprising of the students and people of the country. These five committees will coordinate their work. A certain portion will attend to that work every day. Then there will be a section on traffic. They will decide who will be from which organisation and how many of them will be there. District administration offices, sub-registry offices, court buildings, judges' areas will be secured. Besides, they will watch all the important buildings including tunnel, airport, port, customs, Upazila Parishad building, Union Parishad building and religious places of worship. Moreover, cleanliness will be done at establishments, including our Thana and Upazila. The patients will be carried by ambulance. They will get medical services. About 2,000 volunteers will work for these purposes in the district and municipality. 

Prof Fazulul Quader Chowdhury, the representative of the divisional Rover Scouts leader, said we will try to ensure the safety of people's lives and establish peace, order and law, order, including security. We will realize the dream of a new and safe Bangladesh of the students of anti-discrimination student movement. We will not let the blood of all the martyrs including martyr Mugdho and martyr Abu Saeed, go in vain. We are committed to do so.

Chattogram District Rover Treasurer Rubel Amin Khan, Professor Borhan Uddin, Editor of Chittagong District Rover Scouts, Prof Rita Dutta, Regional Commissioner of Girls Guide, Chattogram District Rover Scouts DRSL SM Habibullah Hiru, BNCC representative Sergeant Mamun, Abu Nasir of BNCC Government City College and Assistant Professor of Government City College Omar Farooq were present.
