Bangladesh registered 198 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Tuesday, taking the total number of death to 24,547.
The country recorded 7,535new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,433,396, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Tuesday.
The death rate now stands at 1.71 percent in the country, added the release.
The current positivity rate stands at 19.18 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 16.90 percent.
Among the 198 deceased, 116 were men, and 82 were women. Of the victims, 192 died in different hospitals across the country, threedied at home and three died on the way to hospital.
72 of the deceased were from Dhaka division, 52 fromChattogram, 26 from Khulna, 18 from Sylhet, nine from Rajshahi, eight from Mymensigh,seven each from Barisal and six were from Rangpur.
A total of 39,278 samples were tested across the country till 8am Tuesday.
During this period 12,950Covid-19 patients have recovered. Up until now, a total of 1,314,916 people have recovered from the virus and the recovery rate stands at 91.73 percent.
As of Tuesday, 4,387,158 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 208,870,154 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
