Md Ikramul Haque Titu, the first elected mayor of Mymensingh City Corporation, has taken various initiatives to make Mymensingh a city of art-culture, history-tradition and education. Masterplan has been formulated to build a modern and livable developed city by combining his various experiences in the country and abroad, the advice of modern urban planners and the dreams and expectations of thoughtful citizens. In continuation of this, the gift of illuminated city is being given.
7,000 and 93 street lights of Poland-made energy-saving Philips LEDs are being installed on the 189.64 km main road in 33 wards of Mymensingh city. For this, the cost of the entire project has been estimated at 49 crore rupees.
City Corporation's Executive Engineer (Electricity) and Project Director Mo Zillur Rahman said that when Mayor Mo Ikramul Haque Titu, rich in modern thinking, instructed us to build a bright city, the work started accordingly.
In light of this, the project 'Installation of street lights in different areas of Mymensingh City Corporation' has been taken under the project. This project with a total cost of 49 crore rupees is being implemented by three international standard companies of Dhaka Saif Powertech Ltd. Dhaka, E-Engineering and SPL Ltd. Dhaka, Property Development Ltd.
Project Director Md. Zillur Rahman also said that due to the war between Russia and Ukraine, the supply of modern LED Philips lamps from Poland was delayed by several months. On the personal initiative of the Mayor, lamps were brought from Poland during the war. Which has now started the work of pulling the wires on the electric poles as well as installing the lights.
The project director also said that in this project, 7 thousand 93 European standard Philips LED street lights made by Poland are being installed in 33 wards of Mymensingh City Corporation in an area of 189.64 km. Already 6 thousand 315 GI electric poles of 30 feet height have been installed. Mymensingh city will be illuminated with bright light after the installation of these LED street lights, which are eco-friendly, energy efficient, durable, spectacular and rich in clear light. At 60 watts each lamp will save electricity, give off a lot of light and the LED lights look great too.
When asked about the project to light up the city, the mayor of Mymensingh City Corporation said. Ikramul Haque Titu said, 'Our efforts are continuing to present Mymensingh, a city of history, heritage and culture, aesthetically in the domestic environment. In continuation of this, we are implementing a project at a cost of 49 crores to give safe Mymensingh at night. If this project is implemented, the enlightened Mymensingh will bloom in a new face.
In this regard, Mayor Ikramul Haque Titu also said that there are such wonderful street lights in various cities of the developed countries of the world. Like developed countries, Mymensingh city is also installing European standard attractive modern street lights imported from Poland and Poland on the main main roads of 33 wards including the newly connected 12 wards. More street lighting will increase pedestrian safety, as well as enhance the beauty of the city. In the future, such beautiful modern street lights will be installed on other roads of the city. Mymensingh will be developed as a more beautiful modern developed, liveable city. And this is how he worked to build a developed metropolis, said Mayor Titu.
Chief Engineer Md Rafiqul Islam Mia said that the work of our project is almost at the final stage and very soon the city will be illuminated by the blessing of Mayor Ikramul Haque Titu. The city dwellers will be greatly benefited by this and will be able to move freely and will be protected from theft, robbery, robbery etc.
