At least one hundred and eighty eight people fell victim reportedly to extrajudicial killings by law enforcement agencies across the country in 2020.

Human rights organisation, Ain O Salish Kendra (ASK) made the claim in a report on Thursday.

Among the victims, one hundred and twelve persons were killed in nationwide anti-drug operations.

Abu Ahmed Fazlul Kabir, member of the ASK presented the data at a virtual press conference on Human Rights Situation-2020.

According to the report, around 11 died in police custody while 13 were reportedly killed before formal apprehension due to torture by the law enforcement agencies. Moreover, 75 people passed away in prisons across the country for various reasons, including illness.

Forty-nine people, however, were killed by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF).

According to the report, the review of 2020 shows people have faced huge suffering as a result of extreme irregularities in the medical sector, fake corona tests, and the extreme cost of health care equipment, including oxygen cylinders.

But the trend of progress in the field of economic, social and cultural rights has continued during the global pandemic.
