180 marginal farmers get mustard seeds

A total of 180 poor and marginal farmers of Harinakundu upazila in Jhenaidah received mustard seeds. Bandhumahal 1994, a voluntary organisation, arranged the seed distribution programme on Sunday.

Presided over by Bandhumahal 1994 convener Abdur Rauf Matul Mallik, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Harinakundu Syeda Nafiz Sultana attended the programme as chief guest at Harinakundu Pilot High School and College auditorium.

Agriculturist Nazrul Islam presented his speech as chief discusser where upazila agriculture officer Hafiz Hasan, retired deputy general manager of Bangladesh House Building Finance Corporation Shahiduzzaman and Saiful Islam Tipu Mallik among others were present as special guests.

UNO Syeda Nafiz Sultana and agriculturist Nazrul Islam handed over the seeds among the farmers. 

During the seed distribution programme, the speakers said the present government has been supporting the farmers to strengthen their socio-economic state. Both the government and private initiatives  have been extending their cooperation in many sectors for building a better Bangladesh free form poverty and hunger.

The mustard seeds will play role in helping the poor and disadvantaged farmers as well as increase the edible oil production in the upazila, they said.

It may me mentioned that that Bandhumahal 1994, establishing in 2003, has been providing support among the farmers to boost agriculture production in grass route level in the upazila.
