180 homeless families to get houses in Narail

A total of 180 homeless and landless families under three upazilas of the district will get new houses as Prime Minister’s gift under the third phase of the Ashrayan project-2 in the district.

Construction works of the houses, which will be handed over to the beneficiary families by this month, have been completed.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will launch the distribution of the houses with land ownership document and keys to the beneficiary families through a videoconferencing from her Ganabhaban residence tomorrow (Thursday), 2022, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) (general) of Narail Muhammad Fakhrul Hasan said at a press briefing here on Wednesday in DC office conference room at 11:00 am.

As part of the Asrayan Project-2, a total of 180 houses out of 807 have been built in 3rd phase for landless families in Sadar,Lohagora and Kalia upazila's of the district. At the third phase of the Ashrayan Project-2, the government has raised the cost and brought changes in design to make the houses more sustainable and climate-resilient, he said, adding that now the landless and homeless people will get better quality tin-shed semi-pucca houses on two decimals of land to improve the standard of living, ensure basic education, health care and skill development on income generating activities of the beneficiary people.

“It is a unique effort taken by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for which homeless people of the country become self reliant with their  own pride and honour”, ADC Fakhrul Hasan mentioned.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) (revenue) Shashoti Shil, Narail Press Club President Enamul Kabir Tuku, Vice-President Naimur Rahman Firoz, former Vice-President Sultan Mahmood among others, attended the function.

DC office sources said,each of the semi-pucca tin-shed houses, consists of two bedrooms, one kitchen, one toilet, common space and veranda, was built at a cost of Taka 2.59 lakh.
