A mobile court fined 18 traders around Tk 5,000 for conducting business in Bandarban's Naikhyangchhari without complying with health rules on Sunday.

The fine was imposed during the mobile court drive, raiding various shops in Naikhyangchhari Sadar area.

It is learned that as part of the Corona Virus Prevention Awareness Program, shops were asked to close and open at certain times in compliance with the health protection rules while maintaining social and physical distance.

But as some traders disobeyed the order, the mobile court fined 18 shopkeepers under Section 269 of the Penal Code.

Naikhyangchhari Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sadia Afrin Kachi said the campaign would continue and if the health rules were not followed in the future, the mobile court campaign would be tougher.
