179 families of Barguna got the house gifted by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina officially inaugurated the house at around 10.30 am and handed over the keys of the virtual house.
After the inauguration by the Prime Minister, Advocate Dhirendra Debnath Shambhu, Member of Parliament for Barguna-1, Chairman of the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, handed over the keys and documents of Barguna's house.
Barguna Sadar Upazila Parishad was a special guest at the event, Barguna Deputy Commissioner Habibur Rahman, Sadar Upazila Chairman. Monirul Islam and former commander of the district freedom fighters parliament Alhaj Abdur Rashid Mia.
Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Samia Sharmin presided over the function. Also present on the occasion were Monir Hossain Kamal, Director of Lokbetar, Zafar Hossain Hawlader, Vice President of the Press Club, Advocate Sohail Hafeez, General Secretary and Abu Zafar Saleh, President of the District Television Journalists Forum.
On Sunday, 53,340 landless and homeless families have been given houses under the Asrayan-2 project on the occasion of Mujib Year. Each family got a semi-detached house with 2 acres of land.
