17 die, 1,114 tested positive for Covid 19 in Ctg

A total of 1,114 more people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Chattogram district in the last 24-hour till Friday.The infection rate is 33.90 percent, reports BSS.

Health officials said the number of COVID-19 cases speedily raised to 88,660 as 1114 more persons were reported Covid-19 positive after testing 3097 samples on Thursday in the district.

A total of 1,036 people died of Covid-19 in the district till inception of corona with 17 people died in the last 24 hours.

Among the reported fatalities, 608 were the residents of the port city and the rest 428 were from different upazilas of the district, he said.

Meanwhile, the number of coronavirus detection and death cases are increasing day by day in Chattogram city and district.

The health expert said that the situation is not being handled properly due to the heavy pressure of corona patients. Besides, the infection in the village is increasing very fast.

“The infection rate is showing a quick enhancing trend again and recovery rate is also gradually reducing continuously in the district in recent weeks,” Focal Person of COVID-19 Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, the civil surgeon of Chattogram, told BSS .

The health experts of Chattogram urged city dwellers, again and again, to strictly follow health rules and use masks. Among the newly detected patients, 712 are from Chattogram city and 402 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.

The civil surgeon told BSS that among the total infected persons, 65,912 are residents of the port city and the rest 22,848 are residents of different upazilas of the district.    “The number of cured patients from the lethal virus infection has reached 57112 in the Chattogram district with the recovery of 190 more patients on Thursday,” Dr Rabbi said, adding that the percentage of recovery rate stands at 65.04.

A total of 4288 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at designated hospitals here, the health official mentioned.
