1500 illegal structures demolished in 2-day drive

Some workers of Pakiza Group created obstacle in eviction drive of Roads and Highways Department (RHD) at Pakiza intersection in Savar, on outskirts of the capital, on Tuesday. Additional policemen were deployed at the area to avoid any untoward  situation.

Earlier on Tuesday morning, an RHD team led by executive magistrate Mahbubur Rahman Faruki started the eviction drive on both side of Dhaka-Aricha Highway to evict illegal structures, which was set up on roads and highway’s land. The drive was started from Thana stand area of Savar.

Locals said, at one stage of the eviction drive, around hundreds workers of Pakiza Group created obstacle in the drive. Later, Police detained two people, and brought the situation under control. The detainees were released later. 

Mahbubur Rahman Faruki said, “We already demolished more than 1500 illegal structures.” He also said, during this eviction drive, the men of Pakiza Dying Ltd created obstacle. Later, police brought the situation under control.

Jakaria Hossain, inspector of Savar Model Police Station, said that addition policemen have been deployed at the area. 

The RHD authorities started the eviction drive on both side of Dhaka-Aricha highway on Monday morning in Savar. In first day of the drive, they demolished more than thousand illegal structure on Monday, and they demolished around five hundred illegal structure on Tuesday in 2nd day of the eviction drive.
