More than 150,000 poor families will receive food assistance of the government under Vulnerable Group Food programme in the district before the Eid-ul-Fitr. Under the programme, each listed poor family will get 15 kilogramme of rice before the Eid. The rice will be distributed from every Municipality and the union of the district.
Aminul Haque, Rajshahi district relief and rehabilitation officer informed, a total of 739 metric tonnes of rice has been sanction by the government for 14 municipalities of the district while 1,574 metric tonnes of rice have been sanctioned from 72 unions of nine upazilas of the district. The total number of beneficiaries of the district was now 1, 54, 250.
