This year, students from 134 educational institutions across the country failed to pass the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations.

The results were officially published on Thursday. Education Ministry sources confirmed that no students from these 134 schools and madrasahs managed to pass the exams under eight of the 11 education boards in the country.

A total of 1,904,086 students appeared in the SSC and equivalent examinations held under 9 General Education Boards, Bangladesh Madrasa Education Board, and Bangladesh Technical Education Board. Among them, 1,303,426 students passed, while 139,032 candidates secured the highest Grade Point Average (GPA-5).

This year’s SSC and equivalent exams started on April 10 and ended on May 13. The Education Minister Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury officially announced the results during a press conference in Dhaka.

According to board officials, the number of institutions with zero pass rates has slightly increased compared to last year. They expressed concern over the matter and said that necessary measures would be taken to improve the academic standards of these institutions.

Education experts have also voiced their worries about the repeated poor performance of certain schools and madrasahs. They suggested that steps like appointing skilled teachers, ensuring regular classes, and offering special academic support could help improve results in these underperforming institutions.
