A number of 13 persons died of Covid-19 and 507 more people have tested positive for the deadly corona virus in the last 24-hour till Monday morning in Chattogram district, reports BSS.
The death toll from the virus thus reached 1,072 after 13 fatalities were reported in the district, said Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram. Among the reported fatalities, 621 were the residents of the port city and the rest 438 were from different upazilas of the district, he said. The number of COVID-19 cases speedily raised to 91,028 as 507 more persons were reported Covid-19 positive after testing 3057 samples in the district. The infection rate is 21.38 percent.
Among the newly detected patients, 374 are from Chattogram city and 133 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.
Among the total infected persons, 67,268 are the residents of the port city and the rest 23,760 are residents of different upazilas of the district.
“The number of cured patients from the lethal virus infection has reached 58,213 in the Chattogram district with the recovery of 257 more patients on Saturday,” Dr Rabbi said, adding that the percentage of recovery rate stands at 63.97.
A total of 4464 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at designated hospitals here, the health official mentioned.
