A total of 120 Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members received the ‘RAB Director General Award’ for their heroic performances and special services.

RAB Director General Additional IGP M Khurshid Hossain presented the badge on Thursday at the 20th founding anniversary of the force and RAB Memorial Day programme at Shahid Lt Col Azad Memorial Hall at RAB Headquarters in the capital.

43 RAB members were awarded the RAB DG Award (Courage) and 77 RAB members were awarded the RAB DG Award (Service) in recognition of their operational (courage/heroic) and administrative (service/complimentary) work.

Earlier, RAB DG gave honours and financial grants to the families of 33 RAB members who died while performing their duties.

RAB DG Khurshid Hossain said that from next year instead of Tk 50,000, the families will get a grant of Tk 1 lakh.

At the same time, RAB DG requested the members go to work without considering the sanctions.

The main objective of ‘RAB Memorial Day’ is to pay tribute to their sacrifices for the country and to show gratitude and respect to their families.

Many RAB members died in the line of duty apart from operational activities. The proud RAB members who have departed forever due to operations and various reasons, their glorious and courageous activities still motivate and inspire the RAB members.

On this day, all members of RAB pray for the forgiveness of their departed souls and express their deepest sympathy and condolences to their families.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the 20th anniversary of the Elite Force RAB on Wednesday.
