Twelve shops burnt to ashes in a fire at Nabinagar in Brahmanbaria. Traders faced a great loss due to the sudden fire. The affected traders claimed that about Tk 40 lakh was lost in this incident.

The fire broke out at Salimganj Bazar of Nabinagar upazila around midnight on Tuesday. The fire service and local people tried for about two hours to bring the fire under control.

Nabinagar Fire Service Station Officer Debabrata Sarkar said the fire was brought under control after a two-hour effort from receiving information from locals. The fire burned 12 shops, including a grocery store, a library, a mobile phone shop and a clothing store.

The primary concern is that the fire was started by an electrical short circuit. Meanwhile, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ekramul Siddique visited the spot in the morning after receiving the news of the fire.
