Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested 12 syndicate members for extracting sand illegally from the river Padma in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna on Saturday.
During a drive, a team of RAB from Pabna camp detained them from Beelkeda Dadapur area in the upazila.
The arrested syndicate members are Jamirul Islam, 42, Rumon Hossain, 19, Badhan Hossain, 19, Imon Islam, 19, Imran, 29, Faisal Hossain, 32, Md Shuvo, 24, Mohon Mollah, 29, and Siam Hossain, 19, of Ishwardi upazila; Masum Ali, 30, and Md Sagar, 19, of Atgharia upazila; and Md Ramjan Ali, 20, of Pabna Sadar Thana.
The elite force seized an excavator, three large dump trucks, two small dump trucks and Tk 15,000 from them.
All of the arrested persons were sent to Pabna Jail after filing of a case
with Ishwardi Police Station.
Ishwardi Police Station Inspector (investigation) Md Monirul Islam said a court sent the arrested persons to Pabna Jail in the case.
