A number of 12 persons died of Covid-19 and 772 more people have tested positive for the deadly virus in the last 24-hour till Wednesday morning in Chattogram district, reports BSS.
A total of 772 more people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the district after testing 2,883 samples, climbing the number of infected patients to 92669 and the infection rate is 26.78 percent, said Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, Civil Surgeon of Chattogram.
The death toll from the virus reached 1,084 after 12 fatalities were reported in the district, he said.
Among the newly detected patients, 444 are from Chattogram city and 328 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.
Among the total infected persons, 68,338 are the residents of the port city and the rest 24,341 are residents of different upazilas of the district.
The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) recovery cases reached the 59,264 mark in the district with the recovery of 464 more patients on Tuesday,” Dr Rabbi said, adding that the percentage of recovery rate stands at 62.99.
Among the reported fatalities, 639 were the residents of the port city and the rest 455 were from different upazilas of the district, he said.
A total of 4721 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at designated hospitals here, the health official mentioned.
