12 new guests have arrived at Chattogram Zoo from Holland. These include two male, four female kangaroos and two male llamas, four female llamas.
These new animals reached the Chattogram Zoo early on Friday morning. Deputy Curator Dr Shahadat Hossain Shuvo confirmed the matter.
He said, the new guest brought to Chattogram Zoo from Holland is llama. These animals are open to the public. Among the 12 animals, two male, four female kangaroos and two male llamas, four female llamas were brought. It is known that an initiative has been taken to procure lions, macaws, wellbeasts, kangaroos, llamas for Tk 1 crore 69 lakh through tenders. As part of that, kangaroos and llamas came to the zoo.
Its mentioned noted that earlier a pair of tigers was brought from Africa to Chattogram Zoo for Tk 33 lakhs on February 28, 1989.
Chattogram Zoo currently has more than half a thousand animals and birds of more than a hundred species. Animals include lion, male bear, crocodile, Chitra deer, Maya deer, Ultoleji monkey, Owl, Hanuman, Goyal, Porcupine, Jackal, Mechobag, Gandagokul, Zebra etc. There is an aviary with peacocks, ostriches, emus, pheasants, teals, chiles, vultures, turkeys, pigeons and lots of pythons.
