116 students from NSTU, 19 from CoU selected for NST fellowship

A total of 116 students from Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) and 19 students from Comilla University have been selected for the National Science and Technology (NST) fellowship in the session of 2020-21 which is given by the Ministry of Science and Technology for research. 

The information was known from the list published in the website of Ministry of Science and Technology on Monday (January 11). A press release, signed by ministry of science and technology deputy secretary Khan M Reza-Un-Nabi was issued in this regard. 

Among selected candidates, 37 NSTU students selected in applied science category, seven NSTU students selected in food and agricultural science category and 72 NSTU students selected in biology and medical science category. The NSTU students selected for this fellowship will receive Tk 54,000 financial support for their research project.

It is to be mentioned that, a total of 3249 selected candidates were selected for NST fellowship in the session of 2020-21 where 848 candidates were selected in applied science category, 736 candidates were selected in Biology and Medical science category and 1665 candidates selected in Food and Agricultural science category. 

The Ministry of Science and Technology is providing NST fellowship since fiscal year 1977-78 and this is  given to MS, MPhil, PhD level students and researchers studying / researching in public universities / research institutes.

Meanwhile, among the 19 students of CoU, 12 have been selected from Physics, five from Chemistry, one from Statistics and another from Information and Communication Technology Departments. 

The Physics Department students are Tanvir Ahmed, Fauzia Fariha, Md. Bayazid Biswas, Nusrat Jahan Bailey, Md. Shakil Ahmed, Shamim Al Mamun, Md. Naeem Mia, MST. Rubaiyet Sultana, Amit Pal, Rabeya Basri, Md. Nasim Gani and Krishna Ghosh.

The Chemistry Department students are Sabika Hasin, Md. Saiful Islam, Bijoy Chandra Ghosh, Asmaul Husna and Sharmin Ara Sathi.

Tasfia Islam of Information and Technology Department and Talal Tasnim of Statistics Department have also been selected for the fellowship.

Registrar said, ‘the students who have been selected for the fellowship would enlighten the name of Comilla University through completing their research.’
