The government is committed to ensure Covid-19 vaccination for all in the country in phases as early as possible and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working round-the-clock in this regard. However, the pace of the vaccination campaign will have to be intensified further so that none will remain unvaccinated.
A total of 9, 89, 32,107 people have so far been administered the first dose of Covid-19 vaccines while 6, 46, 08,535 received the second dose across the country during the same period till on Sunday, according to the data of Management Information System of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). The government had taken the crucial initiative of collecting vaccine even before its invention and approval. Since then, the government has been bringing vaccines from different countries. Bangladesh has so far approved eight Covid-19 vaccines to control the deadly disease.
The Covid-19 vaccination programme began on January 7 in 2021 and is continuing still date. Considering the pandemic situation like the other countries in the globe, the government is also providing the booster dose of Covid-19 vaccines. As part of intensifying the nationwide inoculation drive, the government has already decided to lower the minimum age.
Authorities concerned should run the vaccination campaign at all level through respective hospitals and community clinics across the country. Bangladesh set a target to vaccinate the country’s 80 percent population by this year under an accelerated inoculation campaign, expecting receipt of required Covid -19 jabs within estimated timeline. But it is very unfortunate to note that Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) using its overseas units, continue plotting against the government works of collecting vaccines from the very beginning. Instead of staying beside government and the country’s people during the coronavirus pandemic crisis, they (BNP) even spread propaganda about the vaccine so that people do not take vaccines.
Everyone must take Covid-19 jab and maintain health safety protocols as the new variant of the lethal virus is spreading quickly across the world. We believe all citizens of the country will get the Covid-19 vaccines in phases as there is no shortage of jabs in the country. Last but not least, we must have to follow the Covid-19 health restrictions to stem the spread of the deadly virus.
