A stock of 100 tonnes of dates was found in the cold storage in Riazuddin Bazar of Chattogram. These dates are ordered to be redeemed within 7 days.

The district administration raided Chattogram's largest fruit market Falmondi on Wednesday afternoon to keep commodity prices stable during the holy month of Ramadan.

Safa Marwa Dry Fruits was fined Tk 5,000 and Aroba Enterprises Tk 10,000 for not having a price list and not keeping purchase and sale receipts. Later, the owner was fined Tk 30,000 and warned for buying dates at Tk 2,850 and selling dates at Tk 4,150 in a shop called Ali General Store.

Later, a stockpile of approximately 100 tonnes of packaged dates was found in a cold storage at the far end of Riazuddin Bazar. Several importers and wholesalers have stocked these dates from August-September last year.

Executive Magistrate Prateek Dutta led this operation. He gave an order to release these dates in the market within the next 7 days. Otherwise, dates will be seized and sold at auction.

Agricultural marketing officer Morshed Quader and a team of Kotwali police station cooperated fully in this operation.
