100 homeless to get pucca houses as PM’s gift

Construction work of pucca houses for 100 landless and homeless people has begun in Kishoreganj upazila of Nilphamari under the Asrayan Project-2 as the gift from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on the occasion of Mujib Year.

Deputy Commissioner of Nilphamari Hafizur Rahman Chowdhury inaugurated the construction in Kacharipara area.

Presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Roksana Begum, Upazila Parishad Chairman Shah Abul Kalam Bari Pilot, Upazila Parishad Vice Chairman Rabiul Islam Babu, Shapla Begum, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mehedi Hasan, Officer-in-Charge Abdul Awal, Upazila Awami League President Zakir Hossain Babul, General Secretary Moshiar Rahman, Nitai Union Parishad Chairman Farooq Uz Zaman Farooq Bahagili UP Chairman Ataur Rahman Shah, Convener of Upazila Jatiya Party spoke MP representative Rezaul Alam Swapan, beneficiaries Kaltai Begum, Rahmat Ali and others. Upazila Engineer Majidul Haque, Upazila Project Implementation Officer Abul Hasnat Sarkar, local media persons, beneficiaries and dignitaries were present.

UNO Roksana said Preference has been given to the mentally handicapped, visually impaired, widows, beggars. Some 40 houses are being constructed in Nitai Union and 60 in Bahagili Union.

Later, DC Rahman laid the foundation stone of the gate of Nitai High School with the funding of LGSP-3.

He also visited the Service Corner under construction at Mushrut Panialpukur High School, seating of patients under construction at Union Health and Family Planning Building, Upazila Land Office and Union Land Office.
