Police arrested 10 accused in connection with the murder of Senior ASP Anisul Karim, informed Deputy Police Commissioner Mohammad Harun-ur-Rashid in a press conference at his office on Tuesday noon.
Police arrested those 10 accused by conducting raid in various places from Monday night.
It is learnt, Sr.ASP Anisul Karim went to take treatment of his mental ailment at Mind and Aid Hospital in Adabor of the capital when he was tortured to death by officials and staff of the hospital.
Deputy Police Commissioner Harun-ur-Rashid further informed, by reviewing the video footage of torturing Anisul, 10-person of the hospital have been arrested. They will be sought for a 10-day remand each and legal action will be taken against all involved with this incident including the hospital authority and its management.
By watching the CCTV footage of the incident, death of Anisul is being termed as 'murder' by police.
Rezaul Karim, brother of Anisul Karim informed, his brother has been suffering from mental ailment due to family affair. Around 11-30 am on Monday, they went to Mind and Aid Hospital with his brother Anisul. During filling up the Admission Form of the hospital at the counter, some staff of the hospital dragged his brother Anisul to the first floor. Soon afterwards, they came to learn that his brother is lying unconscious there when they took him to Heart Diseases Institute where the attending doctors declared him dead.
Jane Alam Mia, Officer-in-charge of Sher-e-Banglanagar police station informed, in the register of Heart Diseases Institute it was written' brought dead', that means Anisul died before he was carried to the Heart Diseases Institute.
Anisul Karim was appointed as a police officer through 31 BCS. He left behind his wife and a three-year aged son. He is hailed from Baruda area of Gazipur sadar. Father of the deceased filed a murder case in this connection on Tuesday morning.
