1 gets life imprisonment for smuggling gold

A special tribunal court sentenced a person life imprisonment in a smuggling case in Chuadanga on Thursday. The convicted person is Shipon Rana, son of Abdur Rahman hailed from Jhajhadanga village in Damurhuda upazila of Chuadanga district. The prosecution alleged that a team of BGB-6 raided  Parkrishnopur village in Damurhuda upazila, detained one Shipon Rana, after searching him they recovered 3.175 kg gold bars on April 14, 2017 and handed over him to Damurhuda Police Station.

A case was filed in the connection of smuggling gold bars from Bangladesh to India. 

Imdadul Hoque, an inspector of Damurhuda Police Station, submitted charge sheet against Rana to court on October 31, 2017. 

Mohammad Robiul Islam, a judge of special tribunal court-1 found him guilty after examining documents and 8 witnesses and pronounced the judgement.
