Speculations and debates over who would be the selected lawmaker from the reserved female seat of Jamalpur in the 11th National Parliament have now become the talk of the town.
There are 50 reserved seats of the Jatiya Sangsad.
Awami League-led Grand Alliance got 288 seats in the eleventh parliamentary elections while the 14-party alliance got 266 and Jatiya Party 22 seats. The 14-party alliance is supposed to get 44 reserved seats.
The interested aspirants are former MP of the reserved constituency Mahzabin Khaled Baby, AL central executive committee member Marufa Akhter Poppy, and AL central executive committee member and also the district AL women affairs secretary Sabina Yeasmin. Marufa Akhter Poppy: The reputation of her student politics is known everywhere. She has served as the former acting president of Chatra League. Currently she is a member of central Awami League. She is hoping for nomination in Jamalpur-5 constituency.
Sabina Easmin: Sabina is female affairs secretary of district AL and a member of AL central committee. She is hoping to be nominated for Jamalpur-2 (Islampur) seat. Her relentless work in the five Jamalpur constituencies for the elections has already caught everyone’s attention.
Mahzabin Khaled Baby: Jamalpur-2 MP of reserved seats hopeful Baby served as Panel Speaker of the 10th Parliament session. Awami League wants to nominate her on the eleventh parliamentary elections.
