New boss Niko Kovac has Bayern off to their worst start in eight years. In 2010, Louis van Gaal had Bayern 13 points behind eventual champions Borussia Dortmund after seven matches. According to Bild, Bayern have already started to make preparations for Kovac’s exit in case the situation fails to improve.
The former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger could make his return to football coaching in Germany, reports agencies.
Currently, Bayern are four points behind Dortmund in sixth place, as the Munich club has failed to win a match in their last four matches in all competitions.
After a humiliating 3-0 defeat at home against Borussia Mönchengladbach over the weekend, Kovač’s coaching staff and sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic held a crisis summit on Sunday.
On their three-man shortlist, the German giants have reportedly included Arsene Wenger, Zinedine Zidane, and former France and PSG manager Laurent Blanc.
Wenger has also been linked to the Fenerbahçe position as well, who are currently 15th in the Turkish Super Lig.
With Real Madrid going through a four-match winless streak as well, and Barcelona without a win in their last four La Liga matches, managers may want to play the waiting game before committing to a new job.
