The players draft for the sixth season of the Bangladesh Premier League was held at a city hotel on Sunday.
Seven franchise teams have formed their respective teams. With most of the teams retaining their preferred players and signing at least two foreigners directly before the draft, fringe Bangladeshi players were at the center of the spotlight in the draft, marred by delayed start and poor hosting.
But This year the draft came as heartbreaks for some senior cricketers like Abdur Razzak ,Shahriar Nafees, Tushar Imran, Naeem Islam, Tanvir Hayder as well as young players like Saif Hassan, Jubair Hossain who remained unpicked by any team. Tushar Imran who has been excellence form in the domestic cricket compaction but BCB didn’t get the chance him in test squad against Zimbabwe even the franchises ignore him in BPL players draft. But the team did not get the popular batsman of this format like Nafees and Razzak. Shahriar Nafees is the first Bangladeshi T-20 captain who was unsold in this tournament. The first BPL for Nafees, where he can not take part. Abdur Razzak who was one of the greatest spinners of Bangladesh he unsold on the draft. Even talented leg-spinner Jubair Hossain Likhan has been left unbeaten. No team bought him in the fifth and sixth edition of BPL.
Some seasoned overseas campaigners like Luke Wright, Imran Tahir, Mohammad Hafeez, Imad Wasim, Wahab Riaz, Junaid Khan, and Darren Sammy also remained unsold in the draft event.
