Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Tuesday urged the private sector of the United Kingdom (UK) to invest in power, rail and education sectors in Bangladesh.
Mustafa Kamal said this to a UK delegation which, led by Trade Commissioner for India and South Asia Crispin Simon, met the minister at planning commission in the city’s Agargoan area, a press release said.
UK High Commissioner to Dhaka Alison Blake was also present on the occasion.
The minister also requested Simon to send a business delegation to Bangladesh as the government has ensured business-friendly environment in the country.
Simon assured the planning minister that he would inform the UK’s private sector about the bright potentials of Bangladesh especially in the sectors like education, railway and power, including solar power.
Simon thanked the minister as Bangladesh attained over seven percent growth rate on a continued basis over the last couple of years.
The planning minister said some 100 special economic zones are being established in the country while the government has
been removing various obstacles in trade policy.
