A teenage girl was allegedly gang-raped by a group of miscreants in Jashore town on Tuesday evening.

The victim was sent to Jashore General Hospital for medical test, said sources.

Rapid Action Battalion detained two persons for alleged involvement in the incident.

The detainees have been identified as Ramjan Sheik (21), son of Shafir Sheik and Sumon Khan (20), son of Harun Khan. Both are residents of Bokchar area in the town

Mohammaed Surot Alom, commander of Jashore RAB-6, said victim’s father filed a case with Jashore Police station on Tuesday night accusing Ramjan Sheik and Sumon Khan.

Quoting the victim’s father Abdul Hye as saying, the RAB official said, “Ramjan and Suman picked the teenage girl at knife-point while she was coming from Bagharpara upazila to Jashore town on Sunday afternoon and took her to a secluded area at Manihar locality in the town.”

“People heard the victim’s outcry while the duo were violating her. Locals then rushed to the secluded spot but the miscreants managed to flee the scene before their arrival,” Alom added.

RAB rushed to the spot after locals informed over the issue. RAB personnel recovered the girl from there and sent to Jashore General Hospital.

The RAB personnel detained the duo after getting their addresses from the victim’s guardian and handed over the alleged miscreants to Jashore Kotwali Police station.

Apurbo Hasan, officer-in-charge of Jashore Kotwali Police station said, “The physical examination of the girl has been completed. Details will be available after getting the report.”

He said the victim’s mother filed a case with the police station accusing five youths including Sagor and Hasan.
