Stocks retuned to gaining streak on both the bourses on Sunday as investors showed buying spree to secure the position on sector-wise securities.
The DSEX, prime index of DSE rose by almost 26.07 points or 0.48 percent at 5,368.95 points on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the blue chips index (DS30) gained slightly by 4.87 points or 0.25 percent to close at 1,911 points. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also increased by 9.05 points or 0.73 percent to close at 1,239.07 points.
However, the total turnover of DSE declined by 1.69 percent to Tk 5,164.24 million from the previous day’s Tk 5,253.38 million.
Of 336 issues traded, 187 closed higher, 95 incurred losses and 54 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor. United Power Generation & Distribution Company dominated the turnover chart and became the top on the DSE floor with 1.36 million shares worth Tk 449.33 million changing hands.
It was followed by KPCL (Tk 413.55 million), IFAD Atos (Tk. 312.41 million), Monno Ceramics (Tk 154.59 million) and Active Fine (Tk 152.59 million).
Al-Haj Textile Limited was the day’s best performer, posting a gain of 9.98 percent to Tk 62.8 while Intech was the worst loser, plunging by 9.47 percent to Tk 9.47.
Meanwhile, the CSE saw a positive trend on Sunday with its selective category index (CSCX) gaining 25 points to 9,984 points.
At the CSE, gainers beat losers as out of 232issues traded, 119 closed higher, 81 finished lower and 32 remained unchanged.
However, the number of shares transacted on the CSE floor was 43,752,170 and the total turnover in value was Tk 327.33 crore.
It was the second highest single-day turnover on CSE since October 28, 2010 when turnover was recorded Tk 340 crore.
