Stocks maintained upward trend on Tuesday with major indices at both the bourses gaining amid increased transactions of large-cap securities.
Insurance and textile are among the major sectors those posted gains. A total of 181 securities of the large-cap group moved higher on increased business at both the Dhaka and the Chittagong stock exchanges.
DSEX, the broader index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the session higher gaining 52.56 points to finish at 5,299.07 while the Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 7.33 points up at 1,226.44 and with 16.36 points up at 1,876.71 respectively.
The volume of shares increased to 14.85 crore from Monday’s 12.60 crore shares and the daily turnover in value at the DSE increased to Taka 552.49 crore from Monday’s Taka 442.81 crore.
The prices of 231 securities out of 338 issues traded on Tuesday closed higher against 73 losing issues.
SKTRIMS, United Insurance, MLDYEING, VFSTDL and Queen South. The major losing issues were Standard Ceramics, DBH1STMF, Emerald Oil, Peoples Insurance and East Land are the major gaining issues.
KPCL topped the turnover leaders followed by Shah Jalal Bank, Summit Power, PHARMAID and Advent. The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trend with its major CASPI 180.41 points up at 16,227.57.
At the CSE, 240 issues were traded. Of those, 166 closed higher and 49 closed lower while 1.07 crore shares worth Taka 30.19 crore changed hands.
