The bodies of four passengers, who drowned in a trawler capsize in Shitalakkhya River at Modonganj area in Narayanganj on Sunday night, were recovered on Tuesday morning.
The ill-fated are Din Islam, 35, Joni, 22, Imon, 20, and Falan, 20. All are residents of Shantinagar area of Madanganj under the Bandar upazila. Another person was still missing. The divers of fire service and civil defense of Narayanganj station began rescue operation following the accident.
Station master of fire service Arifur Rahman said that thirteen divers were continuing the searching.
A trawler loaded with 100-150 passengers were going to Modonganj from Narayanganj central ferry ghat on Sunday
night. It collided with the launch
and sank.
Most of the passengers of the trawler were able to ashore while five passengers were unable to swim to shore.
Officer in charge of River police station Md. Neaz Ahmed told the newsmen that the operation will continue for more hours.
