Various socio-political organisations on Wednesday hailed the Election Commission (EC) for announcing the date of 11th parliamentary election to be held on December 23. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda announced the election date in his address to the nation on Wednesday evening.
President of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) and Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu, on behalf of his party, greeted the EC.
In a joint statement, JSD President Hasanul Haque Inu MP and General Secretary, Sherin Akhter MP said finally the EC has declared the election date and with that the doubt over holding the national polls in time has gone away. The JSD leaders said EC has been bold enough to announce the date despite threat from opponent political parties. “The courageous forward march of the country by upholding the constitutional and democratic process would remain continued, there is no one to prevent it”, JSD statement added.
JSD leaders hoped that the national election will be held in a free, fair and festive mood and the election commission will be successful in completing the whole electoral process.
President of Bangladesher Shamyabadi Dal (ML), former industries minister Dilip Barua told Bangladesh post that through declaration of election date the confusion of people over election has ended.
“The constitutional way and democratic process will go on at its own dimension, election will be held timely and in a free and fair mood”, Barua said.
