An awareness raising seminar titled ‘Prevention of Drug Abuse and Terrorism’ was held at North South University – NSU on November 28, 2018, Wednesday, at the University auditorium. This event was organized to raise awareness among students about the catastrophes & consequences of drug addiction and the curse of terrorism on the society.
Professor Gias U Ahsan, Pro Vice-Chancellor (D), NSU delivered the welcome address and facilitated an interactive dialogue with students. Renowned TV personality and Chairman of MANAS Professor Dr Arup Ratan Chowdhury was the key note speaker at the seminar. In his presentation he shared a number of demerits of drugs and its consequences. Dr A F M Masum Rabbani. Additional DIG (Special Crime), Bangladesh Police was also present as the guest speaker.
Jamal Uddin Ahmed, Director General of the Department of Narcotics Control was present as the chief guest. In his address, Jamal Uddin shared his personal and professional experiences about preventing drugs at different levels of the society. He requested all students to play significant roles in preventing the use of drugs. He also thanked the university management for making the campus as completely smoking and drug free. At the end, chair of the session and Vice Chancellor of NSU, Professor Dr Atiqul Islam thanked all relevant stakeholders, the department of narcotics control, students, faculty members and all other staff members of NSU for attending this awareness raising seminar.
