Hundreds of people including the students blocked Jhenidah-Jashore highway for about 45 minutes protesting the killing of a class six student.

The deceased, identified as Imran Hossain, 13, was killed under the wheels of a speeding truck on Sunday morning.

The blockade disrupted road communications for the time causing much inconveniences to the people.

Locals and police said Imarn Hossain, son of Lokman Hossain of Shikarpur village under Jhenidah Sadar upazila was marching towards his educational institute Al Hera Islami Institute on his bicycle at about 8.00 AM on Sunday. When he arrived near Jhenidah bypass road, a speedy truck crushed him to dead on the spot.

The students and local people blocked the road for about 45 minutes, while the blockade was withdrawn as the local police assured of bring the killers under law.

Superintendent of police (SP) in Jhenidah Mohammad Hasanuzzaman said they already seized the killer truck and trying to arrest the driver liable for the killing incident.

The body was sent to Jhenidah Sadar hospital morgue for post mortem examination. The police was preparing to file a case, the SP said.
