Shahriar Chowdhury Emon, better known as Salman Shah was a Bangladeshi actor. His first appearance in a major role was in Keyamat Thekey Keyamat released on March 1993 with co-actress Moushumi directed by Sohanur Rahman Sohan. By acting in one episode of TV serial Pathor Shomoy, Salman started his career. He also appeared as a model in television advertisements.
The actor was born on September 19, 1971 to Kamaruddin Chowdhuri and Nila Chowdhury. He was the eldest son of his family and known as Salman Shah in the showbiz industry. He completed primary education from Bayra Model High school, Khulna. Then he came to Dhaka, got admitted in Arab Mission School at Dhanmondi and completed SSC in 1987. Salman Shah completed HSC from Adamji Cantonment College and received his graduation degree from Maleka Science College, Dhanmondi.
In 1993, Salman got his break-through in the film Keyamat Thekey Keyamat. The film was a remake of an Indian film named Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, released in 1988. He acted in a total of 27 films. His film career was associated first with actor Moushumi and then Shabnur. He acted with Moushumi in feature films Denmohor and Antore Antore.
In early 90’s this popular actor starred in many successful movies. Salman Shah is one of the greatest and ever green actors in the Bangladeshi cinema during the 90s. For his handsomeness, own style and fitness, he was a heartthrob actor in Bangladesh.
Salman Shah died 6 September 1996. He was found hanging from the ceiling of his bedroom at Eskaton, Dhaka. Police had filed a case of suicide, but the family objected to it and lodged a murder case.
On his birth anniversary the Salman Shah Smriti Parishad (Salman Shah Memorial Council) organizes a festival every year.
