Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Alim Mahmud distributed blankets among a large number of cold-stricken distressed people of Rangpur on Thursday night, reports BSS.
Alim visited different areas around midnight and distributed the blankets from his own contribution among the cold-hit street beggars, distressed men, women and children, at several spots of the metropolis to mitigate their sufferings. Assistant commissioners of RpMP Al Imran Hossain, AKM Wahedunnabi and Altaf Hossain, Reserve Inspector Habibur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali Thana Rezaul Karim and OC (Operations) Nurunnabi accompanied the RpMP chief.
The police official called upon the authorities of different socio-cultural and voluntary organisations, financial institutions and affluent people to stand beside the cold-hit people to mitigate their sufferings.
