Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) launched a campaign of freeing the footpaths from all sorts of illegal and unauthorised occupations, and dumping wastes and garbage in only the selected places.
City Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton launched the programme at Luxmipur crossing in Rajshahi Sunday vowing to make Rajshahi city clean and habitable.
He also distributed awareness-related leaflets among the public especially the shopkeepers near the dustbins. In phases, the mayor will distribute 12,000 dustbins among the businessmen so that they can keep their respective places clean.
Panel Mayor Shariful Islam Babu and ward councilors Nizamul Azim, Abdus Sobhan, Ruhul Amin and Kamal Hossain and Chief Engineer Ashraful Haque accompanied the mayor on the occasion.
Mayor Liton said sound health is the most important wealth and urged all the city dwellers including the traders and businessmen to maintain cleanliness to improve environment to build a healthy nation.
