The last match that Rangpur Riders played was perhaps the best match of the Bangladesh Premier League thus far. Needing just 38 runs from 28 balls, Rangpur, in the end, fell short by just two runs.
Rajshahi Kings, meanwhile, gave Comilla Victorians their first win of the tournament in their last game. Captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz did one better as he promoted himself to open the innings but couldn’t inspire them to a second victory in a row. And now, as Rajshahi take on the Riders, the latter are the favourites to win the encounter. The Universe Boss Chris Gayle is yet to kick off with the fireworks in this edition of the BPL. However, it is only a matter of time when he does it – and, on the day, you would want to have him in your team.
Rilee Rossouw, meanwhile, has been, by far, the best batsman for the Rangpur Riders in this BPL so far. He scored 83 from just 44 balls against the Dynamites and almost won the game for his team. Mominul Haque is also a decent batsman on home conditions and actually did very well in the game against the Khulna Titans.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been leading the Kings from the front in the BPL. The captain of the team has been fearless in his approach as he is not afraid to bat in the top order.
After scoring a half-century against the Titans at number 3, he opened the innings for the Kings against the Victorians. And even then, he made 30 runs from just 17 balls and also took a wicket with the ball.
Ravi Bopara had one of the rather weaker games for his team in the last match. However, apart from that, he has been a good performer for the Riders so far in the tournament and could be expected to bounce back.
Finally, Benny Howell has been somewhat of an unsung hero for the Riders. In the last game, he gave away just 25 runs from his four overs while taking two wickets.
Mashrafe Mortaza is currently the leading wicket-taker in the tournament with 8 wickets to his name. His partner Shafiul Islam is also the joint-highest wicket-taker of the tournament with Mashrafe as he has also picked 8 scalps.
The duo has been phenomenal for their team as Shafiul Islam took three wickets in the last game while Mortaza picked a single one while giving away just 22 runs in his four overs. Isuru Udana has been among the better performers for the Kings. Finally, Mustafizur Rahman seems to be struggling to perform at his best in the tournament. But he has enough firepower to make an impression straightaway.
