Paying tribute to Shaheed Raju a spectacular sculpture was unveiled at Chitralekha Razu Chattar in Chandpur, the hometown of the martyr.
Chandpur mayor Nasir Uddin Ahmed unveiled the new public sculpture on December 3, marking the 28th death anniversary of the martyr.
Mentionable, on December 3, 1990, Chandpur College student Raju was killed in police firing during a procession against the autocrat government.
District administration and various other organizations held a number of programmes on the occasion including the unveiling of the new public sculpture at Chitralekha Razu Chattar in the city.
In the morning various social and political organisations, educational institutions and politicians paid tribute to the anti-autocratic martyr.
Among others, district AL general secretary Abu Nayeem Dulal Patwari, Chandpur Press Club president Shaheed Patwari and general secretary Mirza Zakir, were present during the inauguration of the sculpture.
Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni MP paid tribute to his grave.
