Heavy rains lashed capital Dhaka and in a matter of days it is expected the rain clouds would make their mark in the city again, weathermen said. Mercury in the capital had soared for the past few days and the rains are a relief from the scorching heat.
The monsoon shower brought some respite to people from unbearable heat in the city on Tuesday. After light rainfall the temperature went down by 24 degree Celsius.
Heavy rain caused waterlogging in the streets; nonetheless the people were extremely happy to get relief from the blazing sun.
People enjoyed the cloudy weather outdoors. Besides, some dwellers in the capital found people enjoying the pleasant weather, while children enjoyed swimming in the rain water. Many rickshaw-riders enjoyed rain water soaking them completely on the roads.
After days of battling extreme heat, people heaved a sigh of relief after the rains and expressed their happiness on Twitter. Many people took pictures of the rain-drenched city by mobile phone from open windows.
The maximum temperature was recorded 34.1 degrees celsius at Tetulia in Rangpur division yesterday while yesterday’s minimum temperature 24.6 degrees Celsius at Gopalgonj in Dhaka division.
The coming days are set to be hot, but the city will see light to heavy rainfall, predicts weather experts.
