Persistent rain forced the second T20I between Australia and India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground to be abandoned on Friday, Cricbuzz reports.
Rain did delay the toss by a few minutes but the match began on time with India opting to bowl. But the clouds opened up quite heavily during the 19th over, forcing the players to leave the field, after which they never returned despite the weather teasing the prospect of a resumption on multiple occasions.
Following the abandonment, India’s streak of seven straight T20I series wins has come to a halt since a 1-1 draw is the best possible result they can achieve if they go onto win the final game in Sydney on Sunday.
A determined India were on top of the contest right from the outset.
