The Qulkhawani of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Managing Editor Shahriar Shahid was held at his residence at Bashundhara residential area in the city after Asr prayers Frida, reports BSS.
Prime Minister’s International Relation Affairs Adviser Professor Dr Gowher Rizvi, BSS Managing Director and Chief Editor Abul Kalam Azad, other noted personalities, journalists, friends and family members were present at the doa mahfil. Maulana Ali Hossain Maizbhandari conducted the prayers, joined by several hundred people.
Shahriar passed away on November 17 in a city hospital at the age of 55. He was laid to eternal rest at his family graveyard at Doukar Char village under Raipura upazila of Narsingdi district on November 19.
Son of former editor of now defunct Bangladesh Times AKM Shahidul Haque, Shahriar was admitted to Apollo Hospitals in the city on November 14 following a heart attack.
Shahriar wrote over 30 books based on the interviews of the gallantry award winning freedom fighters. He also made some documentaries on the Liberation War.
