Dwip Azad, Noakhali
Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has visited Noakhali without enjoying government facilities and flag in his car. He submitted his nomination papers there for two constituencies in Noakhali.
Prior to the submission of nomination, thousands of supporters welcomed him at Basurhat in Companiganj on Tuesday.
The AL leader submitted his nomination papers to Companyganj upazila executive officer and assistant returning officer Foysal Ahmed and Kabirhat upazila executive officer and assistant returning officer Shariful Islam.
Talking to the journalists after submitting his nomination paper, the AL leader said that no matter how many politicians join BNP, the party cannot drum up support with unpopular leaders who have no connection with the mass. BNP has lost support nationwide due to the sweeping popularity of Awami League, he added.
He said, “Those who demand the resignation of the CEC one month ahead of the national elections have bad intentions and do not want an election.” Obaidul Quader said, “I do not want to break electoral rules, thus there is no flag on my car. I neither use a government bungalow, nor any state-owned car. Is this not a level playing field?”
Present on the occasion were Feni-2 AL parliamentarian and nominee Nizam uddin Hazari, and Grand Alliance nominee for Feni-3 constituency Masud Uddin Chowdhury, among others, were present at that time.
