Stock markets closed on Tuesday with downward trend due mainly to price fall in large-cap securities.
The falling major sectors were travel and leisure and textile. A total of 146 securities of the large-cap group moved down due to lower activities, reports BSS.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 14.43 points down at 5,325.48. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 2.35 points down at 1,262.99 and with 2.87 points down at 1,894.38.
The daily trade fell to 15.79 crore shares from Monday’s 18.31 crore shares and the day’s trade value at DSE decreased to Taka 786.06 crore from Taka 873.68 crore of the previous session.
At DSE, out of the day’s 341 securities, prices of 120 securities closed higher against 173 losing issues. The major gaining issues were Legacy Foot, ANWARGALV, Apex Tannery, ITC and AMCL (Pran). The major losing companies were SKTRIMS, Peninsula, Saiham Textile, NFML and Tosrifa.
KDSALTD topped the turnover list followed by Monno Ceramics, BBS Cables, KPCL and Square Pharma.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with downward trend with its major CASPI 62.25 points down at 16,385.27.
At CSE, 241 issues were traded. Of those, 79 closed higher and 141 closed lower when 1.15 crore shares worth Taka 48.78 crore changed hands.
