Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Jasod) President and Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Hasanul Haq Inu, MP, on Thursday said BNP founder General Ziaur Rahman had betrayed freedom fighters and soldiers, reports BSS.

“Zia had betrayed freedom fighters and patriotic soldiers to grab state-power by killing them,” Inu, former information minister of the incumbent government said, while speaking at a meeting marking the “Soldier-People’s Revolution (Sipahi-Janata Biplob) Day” at Shaheed Colonel Taher Auditorium at Bangabandhu Avenue here.

Inu, former information minister of the Awami League-led Grand Alliance government said the quarter which is observing November 7 as the Revolution and Solidarity Day is trying to hide the real history and the ugly betrayal and incident of General Ziaur Rahman. He said Colonel Taher was sentenced to death on charge of a false and fabricated case. Since then the BNP is observing the day as “National Revolution and Solidarity Day” as this paved way the way for Ziaur Rahman to grab state-power while pro-Liberation forces marked the freedom fighters and soldiers’ killing day.

Referring to countrywide ongoing anti-corruption drive, the Jasod president highly appreciated it in the greater interest of the country and nation. “Jasod’s struggle for establishing good governance and prime minister’s drive against corruption are complementary to each other,” Inu observed. Jasod’s General Secretary Shirin Akhter, MP, Prof. Dr Anwar Hossain, Fazlur Rahman Babul and Jasod leader Nurul Akhter, among others, spoke at the meeting.
