Zahid stresses public awareness to prevent dengue

Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque on Sunday underscored the need for creating public awareness to prevent dengue, reports BSS. Zahid asked the authorities concerned to intensify efforts of controlling Aedes mosquitoes and continuing cleanliness drives in the city to protect the city dwellers from the mosquito menace, said an official press release here.

He said the Health and Family Welfare Ministry, the Local Government and Rural Development Ministry and city corporations should make combined efforts to prevent dengue from spreading, added the release. The minister was speaking at a view-exchange with the ‘Bangladesh Awami League Dengue Prevention and Treatment Monitoring Cell’ held at the secretariat.

With the health minister in the chair, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Convener and Chairman of the cell and Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) President, Dr Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin and cell members- Health and Population Affairs Secretary Dr Rokeya Sultana, vice chancellor (VC) of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Dr Kanak Kanti Barua, Sadhinota Chikitshok Porishod(SWACHIP) General Secretary Dr M A Aziz, Dr. Md. Jamal Uddin Chowdhury and Dr Ehasanul Kabir Jaglul.
